 The inventor of Wi-Fi is an Egyptian who holds Canadian citizenship. He is known internationally because of the great invention he presented to humanity, which turned the big world into a small village whose residents communicate easily and smoothly.

Many believe that the inventor of something of this importance and fame may be an American or a foreigner, but in fact the inventor of Wi-Fi is the Arab-Egyptian doctor Hatem Zaghloul.

Egyptian Dr. Hatem Zaghloul:


Dr. Hatem Zaghloul was born in Giza Governorate in 1957 AD. Hatem Zaghloul studied electronic engineering and graduated from the Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University in 1979 AD. He also studied applied mathematics at Ain Shams University. Then Dr. Hatem Zaghloul immigrated to Canada in 1983 AD.


Hatem Zaghloul worked as an assistant lecturer at the University of Calgary (the largest city in the Canadian state of Alberta) from 1984 to 1989. He obtained a master’s degree in physics from the same university in 1985. He worked as a statistics teacher at Atapaxa University from 1988 to 1990.

Hatem Zaghloul founded WiLAN, in cooperation with others, in 1992 in Canada in order to transform these inventions into commercial products. The company has won many international awards, including the ASTECH Award in 1998 for Best Small Companies


Besides Wai-Lan, Dr. Zaghloul co-founded another group of technology companies, such as Cell, which is a developer of a set of location products based on wireless networks, providing services sensitive to the locations of people and equipment via a small mobile device.


After Wi-Fi became popular and proven successful, mobile phones were designed to work with this new invention after it was added to mobile phones.


Dr. Zaghloul revealed that the sales of the companies behind that invention at the time amounted to $2 billion, and this amount was certainly very huge at this early time.


Hatem Zaghloul has won many international awards and certificates, including but not limited to the Farder Milner Casgrain Pinnacle Award for his achievements in the field of entrepreneurship, as well as the Calgary Award for Distinguished Immigrants (business field) in 1998 AD.


In 2005, his friend Dr. Sayed Amr Al-Ahmasi co-founded the company “Innovative Products for Life Inc” for technological marketing. The first product of this company was a device attached to commercial blenders that removes fat from fried foods. This device obtained a patent in the technological field. .


Dr. Hatem participated in establishing the Muslim Community Foundation of Calgary (MCFC), following which the first Islamic school was built in Calgary in 2000, as well as the construction of an Islamic services complex on an area of ​​94 thousand square feet. He also participated in founding a monthly magazine for Muslims, and served as President of the Muslim Association in 1993, and as President of the Islamic Council in 2003. His main goal in all these efforts was to unite Muslims in the city of Calgary, to become a model through which Canadians can understand Islam in a better way.
