How to perform the eclipse prayer, definition of eclipse and eclipse

Eclipses and solar eclipses are natural phenomena that occur from time to time, and these phenomena occur with the spread of sins, which is a sign of intimidation and warning, and not for spectacle and entertainment as it is promoted.

Eclipses and eclipses:

Lunar and solar eclipses are two astronomical phenomena that occur due to the astronomical movements and positions of the main celestial bodies, the sun, the moon, and the Earth. It is known that the Earth has two cycles, one of which around the sun takes a full year, resulting in the four seasons of the year, and a revolution around itself, which results in day and night, and takes 24 hours. Glory be to the Great Creator, how did He organize the universe? If the earth were fixed in its place, part of it would have summer and perpetual day, and the other part would have winter and perpetual night.

Definition of eclipse and eclipse:

An eclipse can be defined as an astronomical phenomenon that occurs when the moon becomes in the Earth’s shadow, that is, a lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth is between the moon and the sun, while a solar eclipse can be defined as an astronomical phenomenon that occurs when the moon’s shadow falls on the Earth, that is, a solar eclipse occurs when the moon Between the Earth and the Sun

Most countries in the world witness a total lunar eclipse, known as a blood eclipse.

Blood lunar eclipse

On the authority of Abu Musa, he said: The sun eclipsed, so the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, stood up in fright, fearing that the Hour would come, so he came to the mosque and prayed with the longest standing time and prayer. An elbow and a prostration that I had never seen him do, and he said: “These signs that God sends are not for the death of anyone nor for his life, but rather for the fear of God thereby.” His servants, so if you see any of that, then rush to mention it, supplicate to it, and seek its forgiveness.” Agreed upon.

The eclipse prayer is a confirmed and proven Sunnah on the authority of our master, the Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him. On the authority of Al-Mughirah bin Shu’bah, may God be pleased with him, he said: The sun eclipsed on the day Abraham died, so the people said: It eclipsed because of Abraham’s death, so he said: The Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, said: “Indeed, the sun and the moon are two signs of God. They will not be eclipsed until they die.” No one, nor for his life, so when you see them, call upon God and pray until he is delivered.” [Sahih Al-Bukhari]

The description of the eclipse prayer is similar to the description of the eclipse prayer that the Mother of the Believers, Mrs. Aisha, may God be pleased with her, said: The sun was eclipsed during the time of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, so the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, stood up and led the people in prayer, and he prolonged the recitation, then he bowed, and he prolonged the prayer. He bowed, then raised his head and prolonged the recitation, but it was not his usual recitation. He performed the first rak'ah, then he bowed and prolonged the bowing without his first bowing, then he raised his head and prostrated two prostrations, then he got up and did the same in the second rak'ah. For you, then he got up and said: “The sun and the moon do not eclipse due to the death or life of anyone, but they are two of the signs of God that He shows to His servants.” So, when you see that, prepare to pray.” [Sahih Al-Bukhari]

The Muslim must strive during the time of the eclipse to supplicate, pray, and ask for forgiveness, as these are signs to frighten and remind, not to watch, be astonished, or enjoy looking at them, as those who do not believe promote it.

The Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, delivered a sermon on the day of the lunar eclipse and reminded the people. Preachers, imams, preachers, and others must remind the people to repent, abandon sins, and seek forgiveness often.

They must alert people and urge them to perform the eclipse prayer. Explaining its importance, some scholars have argued that it is obligatory, and the majority believe that it is a confirmed Sunnah. They have to explain to them how to do it.

How to pray the eclipse prayer:

How does a Muslim pray the eclipse prayer? The eclipse prayer is two rak’ahs, in each rak’ah there are two bows and two prostrations.

Meaning, in the first rak'ah, he recites Al-Fatihah, then reads what is easy of the Qur’an, then prolongs the recitation, then kneels, then rises, and recites Al-Fatihah again, and what is easy, but it is less than the first reading, then he kneels, then rises, then prostrates two prostrations.

This is what he does in the second rak’ah, but the second rak’ah is shorter in reading than the first rak’ah.

The Sunnah is to recite out loud, and it is permissible to read from the Qur’an. If someone is unable to pray because people are not praying or the mosques are closed, or because he is busy, it is permissible for him to pray alone in his home or work.

How to pray the eclipse and eclipse prayer

The time of the eclipse begins before the time of dawn begins. If you are awake at that time and strive to wake up, start praying when you see that the eclipse has actually begun.

If you do not wake up and perform the dawn prayer, perform it after the obligatory prayer, individually or in a group if you can, and do not abandon it.

Prayer begins when you see the eclipse with the naked eye or someone tells you that he saw it.

It is permissible to perform the eclipse prayer at the forbidden time after the dawn prayer because it is a prayer with a reason, and God Most High knows best
