A river is a natural, freshwater stream. The river extends between two banks, one upstream and the other downstream. The downstream may be a sea, ocean, or even a lake. Fresh river water consists of rain or other bodies of water such as lakes or water emanating from springs on the ground.
List of the longest rivers in Asia:
After we got to know the longest rivers in the world, as well as the longest rivers in Africa and the longest rivers in Europe, it was our turn to get to know the longest rivers in Asia.

1. Yangtze River:
The Yangtze River, the length of the Yangtze River is 6,300 kilometers. The river is also known as the Changjiang River. The Yangtze River in China is considered the third longest river in the world and crosses China from west to east.

The Yangtze River originates in the mountains of Tibet and empties into the North China Sea. It is noteworthy that the Three Gorges Dam or the Yangtze River Dam, one of the largest dams in the world and the dam known to slow down the Earth’s rotation, was built on its sides.
2. Yellow River:
The Yellow River, or Huang Hu River, is 5,464 kilometers long. The Yellow River is also located in China and is its second longest river, and one of the largest rivers on the continent of Asia.

The smallest river and the sixth largest in the world, the Yellow River originates in the Biancala Mountains and empties into the Bohai Sea in northeastern China.
3. Yenisei River:
The Yenisei River is one of the three largest rivers in Siberia (with the Obi River to the west and the Lena River to the east). The length of the Yenisei River is 5,075 kilometers and its water body area is 2,620,000 square kilometers. Its main source is located in the Sian Mountains (southern Siberia), while its secondary source is located near Lake Khubsugul in northeastern Mongolia.
The Yenisei River empties into the Kara Sea near the Arctic Ocean with an average flow of approximately 20 thousand cubic meters per second, while the largest city located on its banks is the city of Krasnoyarsk and its largest tributary is the Angara River, which together with the latter constitutes the fifth longest river in the world. The waters of the Yenisei River flood twice a year, the first during the spring as a result of the melting of ice and rising temperatures, and the second during the summer and fall as a result of heavy rains. Its waters also freeze during the winter months.
4. Mekong River:
Mekong River, the length of the river is 4,909 kilometers. The Mekong River is the longest river in southeastern Asia and extends through the territories of China, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam, where it flows through the Mekong Delta into the South China Sea (Mekong River Tour).

The Lena River, with a length of 4,400 km, is the longest river in Eastern Siberia. It originates in the Baikal Mountains and has many tributaries and empties into the Laptev Sea on the frozen Arctic Ocean.
5. Irtysh River:
The Irtysh River, 4,248 km, is another river in Western Siberia. It is the left tributary of the Obi River and passes through China, Kazakhstan, and Russia.
8. Obi River:
The Obi River, 3,650 km long, is the third largest river in Western Siberia. It originates from the Altai Mountains where the lands of Russia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and China meet. It flows through the lands of those countries, and empties into the Kara Sea on the Northern Ocean.

The Tunguska River, 2,989 km long, also passes through Siberia through the Irkutsk and Krasnoyarsk Krai regions of the Russian Federation.

The Indus River originates in Tibet and the Himalayas and empties into the Arabian Sea through a wide delta.
10. Brahmaputra River:
The Brahmaputra River, 2,900 km long, originates in the Tibet region of China and passes through the Himalayas, India and Bangladesh before emptying into the Ganges Delta with the Padma River and the Ganges River.
11. Amur River:
The Amur River is the fifteenth in the list of the longest rivers in the world, with a length of 2,824 kilometers. This river originates in the highlands of Mongolia in eastern Asia and empties into the Tatar Strait, which separates Siberia in northern Russia from Salkhin Island in the Pacific Ocean (located between Japan and the Russian Federation). This river is called in China. It is called the Black Dragon (Heilong) and is known in Mongolia as the Black River (Kara Morin). Its waters flood twice during the spring as a result of the melting of ice and high temperatures, and during the summer and fall as a result of heavy rains caused by the monsoon winds coming from the Pacific Ocean.
12. Ganges River:
The Ganges River is one of the largest rivers of the Indian subcontinent. It flows eastward, crossing the Ganges plain in northern India and ending in Bangladesh. It is 2,510 kilometers (1,560 miles) long and originates in the Western Himalayas in the Indian state of Uttarakhand and ends in a forested delta near its mouth in the Bay of Bengal. The area of the river basin is about 907,000 km². Hindus view the Ganges as a sacred river and worship a god represented by the god Ganga.
The Gangetic Plain, through which the Ganges River passes, was the cradle of ancient civilizations, especially the Kingdom of Asoka, which was founded in the third century BC. It also witnessed the emergence of the Mughal Empire in the sixteenth century AD. Hindu sects in India are interested in this river and are keen to visit it and bathe in its water. The Ganges water level depends on the amount of rain water brought by the monsoon winds in the summer and on the melting snow on the southern slopes of the Himalayan highlands in the spring.
13. Degla river :
The Tigris River, in addition to the status and Arab fame that it enjoys with the Euphrates River, is one of the longest rivers of the continent of Asia and the world. Its length is 1,718 km.
