artificial intelligence

Artificial Intelligence is the name given to any computer system that is trained to mimic human behavior.

The concept of artificial intelligence is related to digital and electronic devices such as: computers, mobile phones, and robots, and artificial intelligence expresses the ability of these digital devices to perform tasks.

artificial intelligence

In our contemporary world, artificial intelligence technology has been of great importance, as it helps in completing many works and tasks that form part of our daily lives, such as: elevators, washing machines, and other electrical appliances, all the way to the production lines in major factories. This is called “tracking” technology.

Robots were originally designed to carry out basic activities with the aim of reducing the workload on people. Exploring the depths of the oceans required sending people inside submarines exposed to very high levels of pressure, but now robots that operate with artificial intelligence technology are sent to the depths of the seas and oceans instead of people, which makes marine research faster. More safety and success.

Artificial intelligence is involved in many fields, as it mimics the human mind. It is present in mathematical theories, medical diagnosis, web search engines, and voice and handwriting recognition.

Artificial intelligence falls into two categories:

Narrow artificial intelligence:

Narrow artificial intelligence is known as weak artificial intelligence, and it is a type of artificial intelligence that mimics human intelligence, but it is specialized in one and limited type. It focuses on performing one type of tasks professionally, such as:

• Google search engine

• Image recognition software

• Personal assistants such as Siri

• Self-driving cars

Artificial general intelligence (powers)

It is the type of intelligence found in machines and electronic devices. General artificial intelligence is characterized by being like the intelligence found in the human mind, which is used to solve problems, such as: robots that are used to accomplish many tasks and that make their decisions based on the situation.

Examples of the use of artificial intelligence:

Interactive machines: They are the simplest types of robots, as they are designed to deal with one type of data, such as: machines designed to play against humans.

Limited memory: A machine designed to store a limited number of information and data so that it can be retrieved when dealing with data that was previously stored, such as: self-driving cars, which store pre-programmed data such as maps and traffic rules.

Theory of Mind: Theory of Mind was used in the design of the famous robot “Sophia,” which is a robot capable of using information to deal with situations in a human-like way. It is a robot that talks to humans, speaks and responds to humans, and is also capable of making decisions in addition to showing dazzling facial expressions.

Advantages of artificial intelligence:

Artificial intelligence is used in many important technological and life applications, which have facilitated many aspects of life and performed various functions that were limited to the human mind, such as: robotics, which is used in many industries such as health care, finance, and marketing, and the discovery of outer space, such as machines sent to space and satellites. Industrial and location tracking technology, the stock market, finance, digital media, the healthcare sector, facial and voice recognition machines, fitness applications that count calories, watches that count steps, and others.

Disadvantages of artificial intelligence:

But every system has advantages and also disadvantages. The disadvantages of artificial intelligence are the high cost of its applications and it requires deep technical expertise.
